Just a quick one this week! We bought these bookshelves when we first moved in and never loved the colour. Painting laminate is notoriously difficult but a little prep and picking the right paint makes everything work better! This is how the shelves looked before:
We have experimented with Chalk paint, Milk paint, plain ole latex and finally the paint I now use for just about 100% of my refinishing projects, Fusion Mineral Paint. I love this paint, it requires minimal prep, no top coat and dries really hard and durable with a flat finish. My super talented cousin Sarah owns a furniture restoration company in England with her partner Zoe and sells this brand out of her store Home Revival along with the Sandi Hands I have in the photo above. These made short work of the light sanding this piece needed.
Here in Canada I get my paint from A Raven’s Nest in Port Colborne and they have a great selection of colours, my favourite is Putty from the Penney & Co. collection and is a lovely soft grey. It’s pretty close to the Revere Pewter we have on the walls. This project was completed a few months ago and the finish is still perfect, you can paint laminate after all!
