Who knew that three weeks could fly by so fast?! To be honest nothing really new and exciting has been happening until this week just lots of little jobs which are not so pretty but very necessary. We now have the most insulated crawl space in the world courtesy of Paul’s hard work and Jeff’s willingness to drag yet more old fibre glass out of the space. After Paul had cut Styrofoam insulation for between the struts we then had a spray foam guy come and fill the gaps, no more little mice or massive spider friends for us! It looks like mounds of hard ice cream on the walls down there, we tried to get a good photo but it just wouldn’t take.
We also had the tub repair guy come back again to fix another hole we had missed the first time and now I get to have the first bath I’ve had since we moved in, yay!
Other than the work which does not create much of a visual difference I have been busy making wedding cake for my lovely friend Nicole and her husband Jay who were married at the weekend. So much fun, as stressful as making wedding cake can be it’s really rewarding to make something so pretty as it eventually turns out
Talking about weddings, Jeff and I have decided on our venue, a beautiful plantation style cottage not too far from where we live and a date, the 13th September 2014, s so so excited! We are not as organized yet as we should be but we are so close to finishing the house now we will have more time to dedicate to everything wedding related!
Finally the main reason for this post and our excitement at being nearly finished is down to this room being completed! Our dining room is all painted, the floor is in and everything looks wonderful. The photos don’t really do justice to the colour but our lovely antique dining room set will be here over the weekend and I will try to get more photos which are true to the colour of the walls. So here it is, the final room!
It has been a long journey from buying the house to this point as this was the room we were planning on doing first! Thankfully we decided against it as it’s the room we have used as a workshop for the entire project! We painted our vanity, our kitchen cupboard doors and baseboards and stored all of the tools in this room for the last three months!
The room is not completed yet, we still have new hardware for the back door, a sliding door for the laundry room (or whatever we decide for the door) as well as the wainscoting for the bottom of the walls under the ledge. All of those projects can be done in our own time and it’s such a relief to know that there is very little in the way of major choices left to make for the interior of the house!
Next post will be a before and after for each of the rooms on the main floor I think, we still have work to do in the office and bedroom closets but we can see the finish line!
