It’s been a whole week since our last post, and for that we apologize. We’ve been at it steady, but again, have little to show for it. It’s been a lot of sanding and painting and sanding and painting and sanding and . . . you’re starting to see the pattern here.
Dad was able to get the flooring in before the weekend and we couldn’t be happier with the result! He’s finished with the whole main area (living room & kitchen), so there’s just the foyer and sun room left. It really gave us a jolt to see the floors down. We’ve been elbow-deep in paint and sawdust for so long, it was refreshing to see such a big change happen so fast!
The very next day came the baseboards. I wanted something thick as to not need to place quarter round (bleh!), and Alethea wanted something tall. What we got was a 6″ tall, Colonial-style baseboard — a perfect marriage between an antique North American and classic English look.
The kitchen has been quite a grind.
In hindsight, it was quite a lot of work to change the cupboards from slightly off-white to white, but it’s really freshened the place up!
Well, it’s back to the grind for now. Well try to update more often going forward.
All the best,
