White then cream then grey then white again beams!

Hi all!

So it’s been a while since we updated, and we are sorry. It’s just because at this point things are pretty boring; lots of painting and filing holes and sanding really. Things are coming together really fast though so I thought I’d make a quick post to fill you all in on some small details.

The beams; they were a nightmare! Chocolate brown and dirty looking, full of holes from Christmases past, and generally nasty. So we decided to paint them, but which colour? Should we try and whitewash them? Paint them a dark grey, a light grey? So we tried all of the above and decided on flat old white, and it looks AWESOME! (photos to come) The room looks big and airy and beautiful and we are so so happy to not have to paint another beam ever again. Thank goodness.

We went for a little picnic dinner tonight and drove down to the lake which is about a 5-10 minute drive from our house, Here is the view from where we had our picnic:

Beautiful.
Beautiful.

We had the guys come and seed the lawn and it’s growing slowly but steadily; a bit patchy in places but we are trying to take care of it and water it and hope it will turn into a beautiful grassy patch as soon as possible!

Grass!
Grass!

We had decided to paint the insides of the kitchen cupboards which, again, had just not been cared for and looked a little sad. They look great now! The colour is pulled from our dishes that mum bought us a few years back, and we love it with the pewter and the white we will be painting the front of the cupboards.

Before.
Before.
After.
After.

Paul has cut the vanity and added little feet, which we will paint to blend into the rest of the piece, and he set it up in the bathroom so we could get a feel for it, what do you think?

We love it, and can’t wait for it to be all painted and fitted; it’s going to be fantastic. Finally, to wrap up, here’s a picture of us looking as exhausted as we currently feel!

Tired!

More update to come as things become more finished, Can’t wait to have something complete to show you all 🙂 It’s coming, I promise!

  1. Hey guys, well the lawn seems to be coming along well although as you say a bit patchy! This is the part of decorating that is the most frustrating, the “all that work and not a lot to show for it” stage. I am, however, glad you took sometime out to enjoy the view, it looks spectacular! Keep up the good work and hopefully we will speak soon. Loves ya both x

  2. I love it!!! Vanity looking good and the kitchen units are awesome! Great colour!! It looks like the end Iain sight and it will be time for feet up and relax!!!! Picnic spot looks ideal. Looking forward to visiting that xxxx

  3. You 2 are doing an amazing job! Love watching your home take shape..

  4. It’s starting to come together well, I love the details in the cupboards, nice call! Can’t wait to see more photos, also nice view!!!
