Everything and the kitchen sink!

Hi guys,

So this week has been pretty exciting and very hectic; we are really starting to see the beauty of the house and how it’s going to look when it’s all done. We got our lovely counter-tops installed and they look wonderful!

We are going to re-paint the cupboards a little later after the bulk of everything else is done. Here’s a picture with our marble back-splash tiles:

What do you guys think? I love it! We had lots of other considerations this week also, our beautiful dresser is simply too tall for our vessel sink and we did not want to chop the lovely legs off so we will be using it as our dresser and have replaced it with this little beauty:

It is pretty similar to the French dresser I loved so much and we may paint it or re-finish it in some way as it needs a little love. It was a bargain through from a little antique store in Ridgeway called the Green Barn which has all sorts of cool little pieces.

So we are now all sorted for our vanity and the bathroom is really coming along too. This week has been about getting everything together and prepped and that has meant lots and lots of Polyfilla and sanding. Poor Jeff did the bulk of this as the dust really got to me and this was the result:

Poor Jeff!

It’s a dirty dusty job but we now have almost perfect walls upon which to paint our lovely colours. I was actually pretty sick yesterday and so Jeff was free to finish prepping whilst I felt sorry for myself at home, on Friday we had left the house looking like this:

I painted the ceilings but left early and Jeff finished up priming our beams so we could go in today. Now I am feeling better and we were able to paint the first coat of the Revere Pewter, which we are really really happy with (you can see it on the wall to the right). We also went ahead and painted a patch of the blue on the wall to show you guys the contrast:

Remember our living room fabrics?

I think it’s all going to look great when we’re done. That’s just about all our updates for the last few days, We should have lots more exciting things to show you all soon as we are now getting into the bigger projects, our lovely bathroom tiles have been laid and are now just awaiting the grout and we just need one more coat of the pewter on the walls and we will be able to think about laying our laminate!

Finally, here is the kitchen sink.

As always leave your comments or opinions, we are really interested in what you have to say about our choices! We are sorry we just haven’t had time to go through and answer all of them but we are reading them, promise 🙂

  1. Fantabulous!!! It’s looking great and I can see how hard you are all working. I’ve changed my mind about having a break… I think Jeff needs one. First look I thought he’d aged 20 years.. Then I realised it was the sand dust! Phew. I think you are doing wonderful and your home is coming together, it is looking great. Secretly I’m happy about the dresser – I loved the look with the mirror attached and it stands so well on its own. The one you have replaced it with looks just as nice and the finish will give you the same effect – all round win win I think! Keep up the good work all of you – I think your kitchen tiles will require patience and a lot of small cuts – but the look is great. Looking forward to the next update already. Well done all of you – very proud !!! Xxxx

  2. Wonderful…… I am really impressed with how much you have managed to get done! I agree with Aunty Ali about the dresser, it is far to pretty to start cutting down. I love the new one too and the fact that you have had all those great ideas tells me it to will also look perfect in the end. Jeff looks rather sad in the photo, all covered in dust and sad look on his face! I think he has worked exceptionally hard, so maybe he deserves a day off? I am so proud of you both for all the hard work you are putting into the house to make it your home, the results are beginning to show all the thought and love you have put in. I also cannot wait for the next update, but then I am greedy and want it all at once 😉 love you both, keep up the hard work xxx

  3. Alethea, what’s with reffering to Jeff as a blank canvas?
